An american family visit Germany for a Christmas. During their trip an avalanche destroys their small Christmas village in the Alps. The sole survivor is an American teenager Mathew, who awakes in a dark underworld of European Christmas folklore, Krumpus, Knecht Ruprecht, and Zwarte Piet “Black Pete.” To escape he must find the true meaning of Christmas.
